We had an oil fired Rayburn many years ago, and yes the Sunday roast was absolutely superb

So Anna does your coking for you? That must be Agony.

I'll gloss over the fact her surname is spelt differently, and suppress my guffawing (which is not difficult) and look down from a great height at you with disdain.

Nearly as bad as Anna Daptor, the character on KYTV, along with her co-host Mike Flex

Had the new RSV vaccine (respiratory syncytial virus) yesterday (I'm especially vulnerable with my COPD) and it was fine - one of those jabs where I felt absolutely nothing.

But feeling a little bit rough this morning. 😕

Went to buy my wife's newspaper at the Coop yesterday morning as usual, but my debit card was refused! Most embarrassing - fortunately I always carry cash as well.

Shoot forward to PM and ring bank (miraculously I got through quickly and managed to speak to someone who didn't speak Pidgin English) and it turns out some bastard tried to buy something for a mere £34.99 at 10:10 pm, which the bank thought suspicious for some reason and blocked my card.

NOW, yet again, I have to wait 7 working days for them to send me a new one, which is effin' inconvenient and THEN I will have to update my card details with the likes of Amazon, eBay, Tesco etc., which is a bloody nuisance!! Grrrrrr!!

I had something similar not long back. My phone dinged and it was my banking app.
I had to log in and confirm payment of a £200 transfer to a bank I had never heard of.
Of course, I said no and rang the bank.
They were very nice and said all transactions to and from that bank were now cancelled - and not to worry.
But you do.

And this is the main reason why I use PayPal whenever I can as I hate having to use my debit card and put my details in to purchase something online, which has proved my point - some arsehole saw my card details and decided to try it on.

BUT there are still companies/sellers out there that do not take the likes of PayPal, which is so anonymous and FAR MORE secure! I have had situations where I'm so annoyed they don't take PP; I don't buy from them.

Many years ago, I bought something (don't remember what now) and when I got my bank statement there was a large amount taken out for a HiFi system, which immediately sounded alarm bells, so I rang that company and the boss man was horrified - he emailed me later to profusely apologise and said the bastard that had done it immediately owned up and was sacked on the spot. How the hell he thought he was going to get away with it I don't know, and that it is why I am so loathe to post such personal financial details online with a company you have never dealt with before.

IF YOU DON'T CHECK YOUR BANK STATEMENT, YOU ARE MAD AND DESERVE TO BE CAUGHT OUT

Just been catching up with a couple of old BCGers that I was writing with umpteen years ago.

Gavin Johnson seems to be doing really well for himself with his animation.

Then there's Charley who was also part of the "team". She's got some more time to herself and threatening to come back on here. Also planning to maybe do some WRITING together soon. (December after Nanowrimo).

Last week my DVD player packed up. So I bought a new one from Amazon (£21.99) which arrived on Thursday.

Having to dispose of the old one, I decided I might as well - finally - get rid of my two video recorders, which haven't been used for years. So I had to disconnect & extricate them and then I thought, without anything to play them on, I might as well get rid of all my numerous video tapes - including many relating to Wimbledon FC over the years whenever they were on TV in the old 3rd/4th division days, various giant killing acts and, of course, the 1988 FA Cup Final. I am bereft but what can you do?

Just my luck that videos will now come back into fashion (I never understood why they went out of fashion - much more permanent on which to keep recordings than the here today/gone tomorrow Sky boxes and the like).

Then, having disconnected my old DVD and two video recorders, I thought I might as well dispose of my printer, which has run out of ink and I don't use any more (I go down the library and print off anything I need @ 20p a sheet). So another disconnection and removal.

After all that, of course, I had to dust all the surfaces and other equipment that I'd disturbed.

Now, once I've had my car serviced on Wednesday, I shall have to book a spot down the dump.

Just thought I'd let you know that I haven't been wasting my time.

I bought a USB gadget for taking off old videos from recorders and my old camcorder.
It puts them as video files on your computer.
Piece of cake and cheap

Thanks. I'll investigate whether or not that will be viable for my needs.
