The Very Best Of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore DVD

I got this DVD at the weekend as it's on offer in HMV for £5.

I loved the Pete and Dud, Bo Dudley, Uncle Bertie sketches and the Goodbye song. But that was about it. The rest of the time I was just skipping through the overlong sketches which seemed bereft of any laughs.

I see it as a patchy representation of their work. I can only assume this is due to a lot of their material (and possibly their best) being lost to the BBC's awful archiving system in the 60s.

Indeed, a lot of their earlier work was lost and that was when they were at the best. Cook was sober more often and Moore was unable to stop corpsing. Peter Cook: Genius.
