NewsRevue again! Page 112

They weren't there. They said they were to come.

I lie, it is there but I can't copy it either.

Yay! I knew my spider sense was tingling.
JD to the rescue with his amazing average-powers of cut and paste!

A few familiar names on this list (and I've a terrible memory for names & faces) - well done all.

Thanks JD - your cutting and pasting is mightily impressive!

I got a VO - very pleased as it was used on the last run too, and I didn't realise they would use something in 2 different runs.

:)

Thanks very much for sharing, JD. Nice to be back to some good news and a confidence boost after so long without writing.

Now, to see if I can get them to send me the running orders/edit sheets.

Btw, I've usually kept getting Treason show running orders but haven't seen one for last month - is that not out yet?

Re: Treason
Are they open to submissions from all and sundry?

I know their website says something about sending them 2 samples, so I did that several months back and never heard anything so, thinking you need some form of approval, I've never sent them anything.

Did I misunderstand, or do you need to pass the approval system before they'll take anything from you?

Mr Dave, I sent two sketches and Treason liked 'em and invited me to keep submitting. Given the high quality of your work I imagine they haven't got round to contacting you or their reply got lost so I reckon you should keep sending stuff.
If you're interested (and even if you aren't) my one-liner was 'Prince Charles in traditional Scottish costume. Strange, normally the kilt CONCEALS the dick head.'

If I were you Dave - and you come up with good ideas I'd send to both every week.

Note to self to start sending to Treason too - if I get inspired.

JD, I recall not getting anything in or hearing back when I first started trying, then had some feedback for a couple that they liked but ultimately didn't use, before making the cut.

So I'd just send it in, if your stuff's getting into Newsrevue it must be suitable. Ultimately, they'll want all the material they can get to make the best show possible.

On balance I always seemed to have more luck with songs in Treason and sketches in Newsrevue, so guess their styles might be a bit different. I've never seen TS though (been to Newsrevue quite a few times and it's brilliant). Always sent to both and hope it suited one of them (once they both used something which was doubly satisfying)

Hi, folks

I'm in Edinburgh and saw last night's NewsRevue which was excellent. Audience loved it and there was a fantastic medley finale. (Who knew you could combine Les Mis with the Proclaimers?)

Ages ago now, maybe a couple of years, I sent then the samples and got a reply saying something along the lines of they'd be happy for me to submit...then got nothing on the times I submitted! I stopped submitting for a while but sent a couple of bits again recently.

Might be worth dropping an email Dave asking if they'd like to see more, I know they've had a fire which destroyed all the costumes and they may be frazzled due to this so may just not have got around to replying to you.

Well I've not been writing as many topical sketches/songs the past couple of weeks as I'm frantically working on something big to do with the Scottish Referendum, but thank you very much for the replies about Treason (and for what I took to be extremely kind words about my alleged humour, leading me to think you may be mixing me up with someone else).

Firstly: Well done everybody!

Secondly: I'm not too old nor too male to go "Squeeee!" :)

You're never too old for that. Thank you for the compliment and keep it up.
