The Real McCoy

I remember watching this back in the day and enjoying it. I had a feeling that it wouldn't stand the test of time, but then I watched this:

Mind you, I just watched this one as well:

It was one of my favourite shows when I was little.
I liked these characters...

But it wasn't all people doing accents. Honest!
Those two blokes also did straight stand up together on TV at the time, they were funny.

I also liked the token white guy, who played Alan Chestswamp, the gardener.

It's all on iPlayer now. :D

Oh wow.

I had no idea.

Thanks.

I was wondering which way this would go in 2020 if it ever went anywhere because for years it wasn't released on DVD (still isn't?) on the ludicrous grounds that there was not enough interest. As a white man with interests in black culture and that very much included black, especially British, comedy I was with it at the time and loved it. I think it is brilliant. Felix Dexter. What a star. But as the BLM thing grew, I did wonder if it would suffer ostracism from some so called correct daft view of black within black stereotyping.

I am delighted to see that it has been brought back on iPlayer and am now looking forward to seeing as much of it again on there as possible. For those who don't know it and think they might or might not try it, do try it. Of its time - you have to take that into account and even need to enjoy it on that level - but it is a very, very funny series in my humble opinion and of course hugely groundbreaking when it was broadcast. A bit cult-ish too - I think on viewing it I felt included in a secret club. None of my mates knew it.

Ragged but right......crackers......and smashing:

Yeah, lots of sketch shows haven't really had proper releases, it's ridiculous.
