Young Wives' Tale (1951)

The reviewer who enthused over this, must have been watching a different film to me or they'd got two films mixed up.

I managed to watch it for about ¾ of hour and could stand it no more, what with a lot of shouting and a screaming baby, which all in all was far from funny.

With the post war housing shortage, two young couples try to share a house (this happened to my parents, in about 1954) and the resulting mayhem is an absolute hoot! Not.

Joan Greenwood, Nigel Patrick, Derek Farr, Guy Middleton, and of all people Audrey Hepburn, and there were small parts for Irene Handl and Joan Sanderson ("when I book a room, I expect to see the sea!")

No, and unfunny stage play it seems, where I half expected to see Brian Rix appear in the wardrobe sans trousers.

If only...
