Netflix's series 'Messiah' about a (maybe) second coming of a guy who might be Jesus is similar in this idea - you can see all what is happening from two POVs (until the discover or explanation at the end) - all are tricks, like Dynamo treading on water, or are real miracles.
As a comment on culture, society, conformity, etc. - the Messiah series and last episode of No 9 are different, but both are good.

I should imagine the initial inspiration was the lyric to "Jerusalem", where Blake imagines Christ walking on England's Green & Pleasant land. What would he find if he came back today?
