It's been fourteen years since Saxondale's last broadcast and am intrigued to hear, how do you think both series' stand up now?
There's an old, forgotten thread that last saw a post in 2010, however the comedy landscape has been reshaped since then; as has Coogan's profile, with its peaks and troughs.
Personally, whilst I enjoyed its original run, there was tendency to compare a brand new Coogan character with Alan, which was foolish but I'm sure not uncommon. Watching now, almost afresh, I think I've found a 'new-old' favourite! As when watching any Partridge project, you can't hang everything on Coogan and expect only greatness from him!
The casting in Saxondale is superb, as Tommy's world seems much more real because of it...
Anyone?
