Hobson's Choice

John Mills, when on the screen stole the scene for me - the man can do no wrong imo. Brilliant actor, and we're watching "Hobson's Choice" next in which he had a starring part of course.

Watched it - brilliant, as was Charles Laughton with Prunella Scales looking about 18 (actually 22)

Goes without saying (what an odd phrase that is) that Charles Laughton was a very fine actor and for me he WAS Henry VIII - superb! Unbelievable as Quasimodo too!

And must mention Brenda de Banzie who starred in Too Many Crooks, along with (blink and you'll miss her) the ubiquitous and tiny Edie Martin (Terry-Thomas' mother!), but in this film uncredited.

John Mills still owes for the f**king four lagers he ordered in Alexandria and he gave one of them to a Kraut, don't get me started on him.

Cold-hearted response for a glowing appreciation of a classic film.

Charles Laughton also directed the darkly brilliant Night of the Hunter. Pity it was the only film he directed as it's a classic.
