Students on the game.

I'm just watching a TV programme about students who supplement their meagre incomes and offset their university fees by engaging in some form of prostitution.

Apparently, 5% of students in Britain are "on the game".

Many girls are earning £1.50 per minute performing on WebCam from the safety of their own homes. It doesn't sound like they're earning a fortune but, if they have six clients on the go at the same time, they're earning more than £500 per hour.

One very pleasant young gay man says he can earn £700 for an overnight stay with a client.

Others, male and female, are stripping. Girls are pole dancing, making porno movies and/or recruiting sugar daddies both online and in real life.

It makes me wonder why these people are at university in the first place when they can earn that sort of money without ever having to open a book.

Nice work if you can get it - and, if you're young enough and relatively attractive, you can get it if you try!

The same with me - £500 for performing degrading sex acts.

Times have certainly changed since my young days.

I well remember chatting to a couple of girls on a street corner in Moss Side, Manchester, and being offered a bonk for thirty bob. That's £1.50 in today's money.

50p of the fee was for the owner of the house the girls used. The girl herself got only £1 out of it.

Naturally, I made my excuses and left.
