Tory leadership Page 5

There's a section of society that will be appalled by the Boris/Carrie shouting incident - described elsewhere in this thread as "the blue-rinse brigade".

There's also a significantly larger section of society that loves the idea of a passionate, volatile relationship and even (within reasonable limits) a moderately violent relationship in which the occasional moderate violence is by no means always one-way.

Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor? Den and Angie Watts? Whether in real life or in fiction, it's the stuff that many people's erotic dreams are made of. I'm not suggesting Boris and Carrie knock each other about but their recent altercation will, in any event, have humanised them to millions of people who previously failed to realise that they are in many important respects every bit as normal as the rest of us.

160,000 conservatives are going to vote for a new party leader and very few of those voters have blue-rinsed hair.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Boris Johnson is not the bumbling buffoon he pretends to be. When he becomes Prime Minister he will simultaneously become a force to be reckoned with.

Out of all the original candidates for the Tory leadership, Boris is the only one who is an exciting prospect. More importantly, he's the only one who isn't a dreadfully dull and dismally boring prospect.

You may love him or you may hate him but you're almost certainly not indifferent to him.

Interesting times lie ahead.

According to press reports, the 29-year-old man who dialled 999 to report potential blue murder at the Boris household followed up his call to the police with a call to the Guardian newspaper.

I hope he's not on a retainer! :O

Five minutes of fame, but probably a lot more if he milks it, generous offers for his thoughts on what it's like to live next door to Boris. Maybe a cash in on a rerelease of an old song - 24 weeks of living next door to Boris, Boris, Where The F**k Is Boris? His name in Who's Who, a guest appearance or two on Question Time, a meeting with Jeremy Corbyn asking him if he wants to run in the next by election for Labour...

Read all about it, young south London liberal remainer twat tries to stop nasty posh Brexiteer from being PM via insidious audio voyeurism.

He wasn't the only concerned neighbour. Another was about to phone the Police when the 2 cars arrived.
I lived in the wilds of Glasgow and don't ever remember anything like this. Boris is scum. .

Apparently the complainants were a couple of Champagne Socialists - ie hypocrites of the highest order just looking to stir things up.

I understand a lot of people were unhappy about the incident, not just the complainants. Although such is the tribalism in politics now that Boris Johnson could rape Wee Jimmy Krankie on Question Time and his supporters wouldn't care.

That's an image I'll never be able to unsee! :(

According to even the lefty voyeur neighbour who delightedly recorded it, the victim appears to be Bo Jo, not his hysterical plate throwing girlfriend. Yet every enemy of Boris and Brexit has piled into this to condemn him as unfit to be PM, even the little squirt Hunt. I don't think it'll change the result, as Lazard says, most con party members are hardcore.

It makes no difference who was the victim and who was to blame. The point is they come as a couple (at least until he trades her in for a new model) and she will have to carry out many official duties and entertain many visiting statesmen. The question is therefore do you want this couple in residence at number 10.

I'm the first to admit they might not be ideal but, when I look at the alternatives, Boris and Carrie begin to look pretty good.

No I don't think that's right, whether it is I'm not entirely sure, but it would set a precedent if a non married partner moved into No10. He'll be expected to move in alone, as a bachelor unless he remarries, or unless they've relaxed those old rules.

Apparently, word on the streets of Whitehall is that Boris and Carrie will move into number 10 together.

Having said that, word on many other London streets is that they were on the verge of splitting up before their recent contretemps and the reason Boris spilt wine on the sofa was because he'd been sleeping on it, having been banned from the bedroom.

So who knows?

No, I don't see why she should even be considered as part of the deal, she's just another one of his casual flings. He moves in alone if he has any sense at all and if he does it will transform his image, married to the job. I expect his agent will encouraging him to get rid of her asap now, she's nearly wrecked his chances already. There is no requirement to be married as PM, there've been plenty of successful bachelor Prime Ministers.

Anybody expecting Boris to be the great white hope of Brexit is deluding themselves. He's not so much a Brexiteer, as a Boristeer. That's what's most important to him. Boris Boris Boris. And his track record as a minister is pretty poor, with a habit of dodging difficult issues and problems. He will give great soundbites, though.

if he has any sense at all

There's the rub...

Just watched Victoria Derbyshire being very unreasonable and, quite frankly, immature in grilling Conservative MP Marcus Fysh, a Boris supporter, over the domestic matter which occurred last week.
She seemed to want the 'interview' to be seen as serious journalism but instead it came across as sensationalism seeking.
A poor show (literally).
No BBC bias there, of course.

It's okay, folks! Everything appears fine in the Boris/Carrie romance department!

Yesterday, they were pictured picnicking together and looking as happy as two happy people on a picnic.
