I was watching Episode 2 last night and noticed that they used a clip of a stormchaser video taken from the side of my favorite pub as my home town in Florida was ravaged by Hurricane Charley's 145-mph winds. I used to work at a small local newspaper way back when, so I emailed my editor friend and they're going to run a story about it. Gotta love those small town papers...

Good Lord!

Even I would have to think about putting me big coat on.

Sustained winds of 150 MPH with gusts up to 190. Nearly 40,000 buildings destroyed. Every school and hospital damaged or destroyed. Yet the crazy Irish guy who owned the pub kept it open as the storm raged and several regulars rode it out with pints in hand, even as the building collapsed and the windows blew out.

The owner's son, a friend of mine, is on the left in this photo taken about an hour after the storm roared through.
