That's Horrible Histories or Valiant Varneys.

I haven't seen much of HH but I used to love the VVs. I'm sure it was this along with Dr Who which got me so interested in History.

They both had a similar feel making humour based on facts.

For those who don't know the Valiant Varneys was a children's TV comedy in the early 1960s featuring Reg Varney's ancestors from famous periods in history - a bit like Blackadder maybe with each episode featuring a different character.

I'm sure there are some oldies here who remember it.

No.

But it would still have been after the Valiant Varneys. Apparently there were 15 episodes in 1964/5 and none seem to exist any longer.
