Yes shame, such a well made and amiable sitcom that will keep its place in the top ten Britcoms for a long time yet. His was a seemingly quiet yet pivotal role for the comedy played just right with wonderful subtlety. It was a very well cast sitcom that one.

Oh that's a shame but not unexpected given his recent health. I particularly liked his Wind in the Willows and his history progs. Will be remembered fondly.

Very saddened and even more so because of his decline. I've always viewed the Python lot as a bunch of dad like figures so that's two dead dads now but there are still four dads left along with my real dad so I still have five dads which is not to be sniffed at.

So it's not all bad.

RIP Tery Jones... Terry said he wrote new fairy tales because 'I read my daughter traditional ones and found them disturbing...' Disturbing. Jones directed and co-wrote 'The Meaning of Life', in which he plays a squawky housewife singing 'Every Sperm is Sacred' to her 65423548 kids, a bendy-limbed waiter playing 'Find The Fish: It whhhent wheeerevverrr IIIIII did gooooooooo', and of course Mr Creosote, the fattest guy in the universe throwing up all over the restaurant, eating the entire menu and then exploding. Oh, and a squawkier housewife watching calmly as two total strangers rip her husband's liver out... Man, that Sleeping Beauty must've freaked him out.

Neville Buswell, who played Coronation Street character Ray Langton for many years, has died at the age of 77.

His longest stint on the street ran from the late 60s to the late 70s.

He died on Christmas Day in his adopted hometown of Las Vegas: after moving there from Britain, he spent more than 20 years working as a croupier, a casino manager and a mortgage broker.

He seemed a friendly soul when I saw him doing an Edward Lear talk. He was sitting down talking to people at the back before the show started, as if he was just a regular punter.
