in the central manchester library they hold a meeting on wednesdays every 2 weeks for local filmmakers and writers, they are having a meeting tomorrow at 6pm in the media lounge. im a writer and director in manchester too and find its a good place to find actors and meet other writers and directors.
you can also hand out your scripts and people will read it and give you feedback
