Bleedin' hell Horse, I like it; but far too arcane. :S

Well, I was pitching it at you as you are involved in Only Connect.

It is full of holes really - some of the references make me appear as if I am about 100 - and the first set of clues needed more with hindsight but it was the best I could do for a first one.

I am not at all an intellectual - I rarely get the clues on the show : it is way above me - but I have wide interests and slightly odd ways of placing things.

Thanks for the kind comments anyway. :)

My favourite Only Connect question is from 2 or 3 years ago (you may recall it of course). It was a sequence question and the first clue was:

1. Eastern dress sense.

What is the 4th in the sequence?

T E Lawrence got anything to do with it?

4. Jeans and a white T shirt (Northern dress sense) ?

Neither of those I'm afraid. So...

1. Eastern dress sense
2. Southern accents

What is the 4th in the sequence?

I'll persevere...

1. Eastern dress sense
2. Southern accents
3. Mid-west hospitality
4. ?

Answer tomorrow evening.

Dunno why - Northern humour?

No, not humour but...

1. Eastern dress sense
2. Southern accents
3. Mid-west hospitality
4. Northern (eg) affection (I think "osculation" was the word they opted for)

Explanation:

1. Well East coast girls are hip, I really dig those styles they wear
2. And the Southern girls with the way they talk, they knock me out when I'm down there
3. The Mid-west farmer's daughters really make you feel alright
4. And the Northern girls with the way they kiss, they keep their boyfriends warm at night

As I say, that was a round broadcast 2 or 3 years ago.

Clever - like it. :)

I can vouch for them' northern girls....

They were probably singing about girls in Chicago not Sc**thorpe.

I like to think it was Grimethorpe

Yes, I remember that one. Fun, but I think it stumped both teams.
