Does it go out on Netflix over there?

Yeah. I guess the UK got it the same time as we did.

Iv'e tried to watch Ozark a couple of times - well series 1 ep1.
And nothing happens? I get to the part where he is watching a porn vid and switch off.

Please explain what I'm missing because there is no hook that I can see.

It's been very enjoyable in a Breaking Bad-lite sort of way. It's worth watching.

Another one watching The Responder - just two episodes up till now. Although it's presumably explained later, I find the way the drugs dealer has Martin Freeman under his control puzzling and annoying.

I've watched it all and it was a good series. The main thing I didn't understand was why he was working alone in te first episode.

C4 VIC REEVES LOOKS BACK ON THE 90s
Excellent, by the way, but no mention or interview with Linehan in the Father Ted section

I've also finished two episodes, and I feel the same way.

I have a question about UK cops in general: Is the radio chatter at all accurate? The dispatchers sound so nonchalant and unprofessional to my ears: "Would anyone at all be able to check on an incident? Please? Anyone?"

Our dispatchers tend to be all business and matter-of-fact. Cops are told where to go, and in a very businesslike manner. There isn't much idle chatter or familiarity. I assume most of you are familiar with our dispatchers from watching American TV and movies, but I guess I haven't heard enough on UK shows to determine whether The Responder is an anomaly or not.

If you want to listen to police/fire/ambulance radio traffic from nearly every city in the United States, you can listen to it here: https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/

I think the only policeman or woman I've seen in about 10 years are the ones of tv

You never see them in the flesh anymore

See, after 2008 the government decided that we didn't really need police So they got rid of most of them to save money

If you get burgled you may as well not even bother picking the phone up

I guess they are reserved for important things like lockdown violators and mean tweeters. :/

I'm glad that I don't live in an area where the police have been defunded. I've seen the results firsthand in cities like San Francisco and Seattle, and it's frightening. I expect there to be some shifting of power when the next elections roll around.

Ammo prices are ridiculous, but there are always a few rounds handy for anyone who tries to burgle me. :)

How much is it for a ... er... box of bullets?

It depends on the caliber, quality, and quantity. For halfway decent stuff, you're unlikely to find .223 cheaper than about 65-75 cents per round; it comes in boxes of 20 to 200 or more. .22 ammo runs about 10 cents per round. 9mm is about 40 cents. As you can see, a trip to the range can get quite expensive, as it's common to fire a few hundred rounds.

There's been a big shortage for a couple of years, and it hasn't improved much. People continue to hoard and panic buy. Prices are about 5x what they were a few years ago.

Oh no, no bullets. It's the end of a civilised society.

It's a shame you can't recover them from the bodies of dead college kids.
Someone should look into that.

And loads to recover from Sandy hook bodies.

The shortages are across the board, to include calibers used for nothing more nefarious than hunting and sport shooting.

It's a shame that our politicians think that another layer of legislation will magically solve our gun crime problem, when there are already laws on the books against murder, robbery, illegal possession, etc. - laws that even allow for offenders to be executed.

What we really need to do is strictly enforce current laws, throw gun criminals behind bars so that they can't shoot anyone, and not punish the Americans who legally and safely possess firearms. Someone should look into that.

Inflation is a bitch huh?!

Even the price of killin' stuff

Yeah, I miss the good old days when a guy with a dollar in his pocket could mow down a mob and have enough left over for a post-murder cup of coffee.
