What are you watching on TV? Page 2,156

Just saw a snatch of f**king Thatcher but managed not to smash the tv,

Watched an interesting documentary about Russian prisons. One prison dubbed Black Dolphin is a supermax full of the worst offenders and the level of security is unbelievable. The cells are within a cell, they are monitored by CCTV and have 15 minute patrols to check on the inmates. There is no cafeteria or recreation areas so inmates are kept in their cells 23 hours a day and eat meals in their cells. When they are moved around the prison they are held in a braced position so they are bent forward and are blindfolded so they can't memorise the layout of the prison. As a result no-one has ever escaped.

Horrific - watched it the first time round, and there is another one in similar vein.

I wish though someone would repeat the film of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's "The Gulag Archipelago", which was also gruesome.

The very last 'This Week'. Do love Michael Portillo's clothes.

I saw him down in Exeter last week with his family. He was wearing a green jacket and pink trousers.

Was that a porn channel?

Did he look lovely?

Jeez, to think I've just encouraged older son to leave Exeter. I might have become Portillo's bit on the side.

I think he has taste. Strange taste obviously as you can tell from his clothing.

Poldark. What could be better?

Last years prefer stand-ups. Love comedians like James Acaster, Greg Davies and Lee Evans with their humor styles

'Who Do You Think You Are'. Haven't a clue who these 2 men are but the older one is a right snobby pain in the arse. Fortunately his son seems a bit of a socialist.

Jack Whitehall (stand-up comedian) and his father Michael.

They made two series of travel programs in which the two of them went off travelling to various far-flung destinations - Travels With My Father - they're among the funniest things I've ever seen and highly recommended!

Available on Netflix.

I'm watching the excellent Romesh Ranganathan on his travels in Zimbabwe.

He's talking about the inflation that struck the economy after Robert Mugabe stole 4000 "white" farms and gave them to black owners who didn't have a clue about farming.

With the economy subsequently in freefall, inflation was rife and Romesh has just shown us two banknotes, the first valued at $1 billion and the second (issued when inflation became even worse) valued at $20 trillion.

The dollars are Zimbabwe dollars, of course - not US dollars.

Diversity in land ownership is a marvellous thing in principle but clearly, it needs to be implemented with a certain amount of finesse.

Watched all of it (s01-02), what a diva of a father. One episode was set in Ukraine, and Odessa humorina there.

This is the most pathetic thing I have seen in my entire life. If you don't speak Italian (cos I know there are some Romans on here), a group auditioned 'Wannabe' on the X Factor and 'really really' sounded like 'willy willy'. This is the reaction of a grown man: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T22uAAVcihE And I thought I was immature.

Celebrity Eggheads.

Shazia said "I've never heard of a Harpsichord."

What amazing ignorance! I shouldn't be surprised really with the standard of this country's education but I frequently am.

'Who Do You Think You Are'..

Some kind of superstar?
Just saw an interview with Noemi Campbell. Hilarious. I loved it when John Lydon did the butter ad and everyone screamed 'Sell-out' when he made it perfectly clear that every penny was to fund his new album cos none of the majors would - then Noemi goes, 'I won't get out of bed for less than a billion', and instead of saying 'F**k off then, you f**king spoilt f**king bitch' it's 'OMG, LOVE YOU, that's the kinda attitude we adore in a celeb! Go go go Noemi, you're AWESOME!'

I assume that this person was not one of the eggheads.
