Are panel shows too shiny?

Does anyone like me feel that the sets on most programmes are too bright? Have I Got News is probably the best one. If we notice the set, isn't it wrong?

I rather like the bright shiny sets, like 8 Out Of 10 Cats. But I do also like the HIGNFY one.
I think I notice the set just as much either way.

I think I'd be inclined to agree with Tim. I'm not sure it necessarily detracts from the shows, but I don't think the overt shininess is really needed.

I don't know about too bright but they are a bit too flashy and sterile for my taste. But I guess that is the idea with panel shows, to make them stand out from other formats.

What really annoys me is the music on some of these shows. The grungy guitar noise concept is getting a bit old (Would I Lie to You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, You Have Been Watching, etc.) I always turn down the volume during the intros because it kills me to listen to them on headphones.

QI has a fun theme song by that gentleman who also composed music for Black Adder and Vicar of Dibley.

That's the one. He was also a contestant on the show once.
