Web series following a pedophile Page 2

Thanks for the feedback.
Looks like I'll have to take the U.K. hit on the spelling and pronunciation - bwaha.

Badge, I agree with you on the laugh points. It's more exposition-y, and I hadn't settled into my character as much I'd have liked. That episode is the weakest (I think) for laughs. Long story, but this thing kind of evolved out of a stage scene I did, which was brand new at the time, and got better later, so I'm a bit insecure about the one we shot because the live version got a lot tighter over the next year.

SootyJ - You might be surprised where it goes, so I'm glad you mentioned that, because that was/is the challenge. My POV for doing this is that in the US for a drama to succeed it has to have a major anti-hero. Drug addicts, serial killers, corrupt politician, etc...
That, and my hatred of reality shows. Maybe it's the same there, but they'll do a reality show about absolutely anything and/or anybody here.

Hope you watch/like the next one. Maybe I'll name the U.K. Version "The Adventures of Byron"....

there is no such word as pedophile.

As you suggest, probably not the most contentious thing about this show though...

Episode #2 is out and about. http://youtu.be/i-OF99JCFKQ

Thanks!

Just watched the first one. Really well made. Will watch the next one tomorrow. :)

I like these a lot.

This is beautifully written, it's very funny, clever, excelent characters.

It's pretty much professional.

And some of the character funny stuff is very good.

I even love how the sets look.

But here in lies the problem. Do you really want to run the risk with material as sensitive and cliched as paedo?

I think if you can do an episode which establishes he's an innocent and just wants to be friends or something?

Agreed.
It actually has the potential to be quite moving.

Thanks again for watching!

Re: the ped(sorry, paedo) being cliched, I'd say that's a difference in the American/British humour right now. It's still sensitive here, but I'd say it's not cliched here (yet). I'm not saying that defensively, I'm quite careful to go stock. For example, black-white racial stuff here used to be the hot-button comedy thing, but now it's pretty tired.

As far as making him an innocent...I hope you keep watching.

Thanks again!

I loved the idea of a child criticising the quality of a (possible) paedo's sweets. I also liked the concept of different streams of paedophiles, as the man comes in with good sweets: there's a winner and loser in every walk of life, even pederasty Laughing out loud

Ep 2 didn't satisfy me quite as much, but I still think this is really intriguing stuff.

I must admit, I also hope very strongly he turns out to be innocent, but I guess that means you've succeeded in hoooking me emotionally. Nice work.

Paedo stuff is always going to be difficult in the UK, maybe it's a different culture.

If you look up Monkey Dust about the funniest sketch show ever, they had 2 characters who were paedophiles. But Monkey Dust is about the darkest comedy show ever.

Yeah, it's sensitive here too, as it should be, but I'm curious to learn the intricacies of British taboo topics. The perception here is more that the UK is 'anything goes'. We definitely don't want this to come off as dark. I'm not into cringe humour, so we did want to make the protagonist compelling and watchable, (although not necessarily likeable.)

I will try to look up the Monkey Dust show.

Episode #3 is up today.

WTF?
All of a sudden the kiddy-fiddler's looking quite wholesome.

Click on your episode 3 link, Paul - it doesn't take you to paedophilia, but something far more unpleasant!
