Good point Rood Eye you Rood Boy philosopher you,

But is it not also to make some people feel better about themselves, by knocking the competition. Maybe those that can't achieve, can only elevate themselves in this way ? Or to create a scapegoat (officer) ? Isn't the same true of all isms, sexism, classism, Trumpism ?

Yes, a person's need to hate (or even to deride) others can be based on a wide variety of things.

If we find ourselves hating (or needing to deride) people we've never met, and who've never done us any harm, it's probably time to sit down and ask ourselves why we feel that way. When asking ourselves that question, it often pays to have a frying pan in one hand to smack ourselves on the head with every time we come up with an unconvincing answer.

I'd rather have the frying pan to smack somebody else, e.g. Trump, :D:D:D
