Ah, that does make me feel better. :)

Still a teeny chance though! So I wouldn't do it myself.

Unlikely. I can't even get 3 numbers on the lottery so there's no chance I'm going to guess the exact sequence of 16 numbers on a stranger's credit card. There'd be a lot more credit card crime if it were that simple!

It's not the credit card numbers that are the problem. They can easily get them. It's the 4 digit PIN that they need to work out.

Or the 3 digit number on the back, if using it online.

Dear Friend,

We want to transfer to overseas ($ 27,500.000.00 USD) Twenty seven million Five hundred thousand United States Dollars) from the Bank of Africa, I want to ask you to quietly look for a reliable and honest person who will be capable and fit to provide either an existing bank account or to set up a new Bank a/c immediately to receive this money, even an empty a/c can serve to receive this funds quitely.

I am Mr.SAHA ZEKMO, the accountant personal confidant to Dr. Ravindra F. Shah who died together with his wife Dr.Mrs. Manjula Parikh-Shah in a plane crash on the 1st Oct. 2003 on their way to attend wedding in Boston. Mr. Ravindra F. Shah, is an American, a physician and industrialist, he died without having any beneficiary to his assets including his account here in Burkina Faso which he opened in a Bank of Africa in the year 2000 as his personal savings for the purpose of expansion and developement of his companybefore his untimely death in 2003.

The amount involved is (USD 27,500,000.00)Twenty seven Million Five Hundred Thousand USD, no other person knows about this account, I am contacting you for us to transfer this funds to your account as the beneficiary, I want to first transfer $7,500.000.00 ( Seven million five hundred thousand USD) from this money into a safe account abroad, after which we will transfer the remaining (20M) but I don't know any foreigner, I am only contacting you as a foreigner because this money can not be approved to a local person here, without valid international foreign passport, but can only be approved to any foreigner with valid international passport or drivers license and foreign a/c because the money is in US Dollars and the former owner of the a/c Mr.Ravindra F. Shah is a foreigner too, and as such the money can only be approved into a foreign a/c.However, I am revealing this to you with believe in ALLAH that you will never let me down in this business, you are the first and the only person that I am contacting for this business, so please reply urgently so that I will inform you the next step to take urgently.

Send also your private telephone and fax number including the full details of the account to be used for the deposit.I need your full co-operation to make this work fine. because the management is ready to approve this payment to any foreigner who has correct information of this account, which I will give to you, upon your positive response and once I am convinced that you are capable and will meet up with instruction of a key bank official who is deeply involved with me in this business.

At the conclusion of this business, you will be given 30% of the total amount, 60% will be for me, while 10% will be for expenses both parties might have incurred during the process of transferring.I look forward to your earliest reply .

SAHA ZEKMO.
BANK OF AFRICA
PEACE BE UPON YOU

When they say they're a prince or something I find it funny (albeit annoying) but basing it on people who've actually died is just f**king sick.

And another- these people could make decent money entering short story competitions (provided they learn what spellcheck is)

My Dearest one,

Hi, My name is Sofia Justin Yak, 23years old originated from Sudan. I decide to contact you after my prayers, I really want to have a good relationship with you. My father Dr. Justin Yak was the former Minister for SPLA Affairs and Special Adviser to President Salva Kiir of South Sudan for Decentralization. My father Dr.Justin Yak and my mother including other top Military officers and top govaernment officials had been on board when the plane crashed on Friday May 02, 2008.
You can read more about the crash through the below site: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/ africa/7380412.stm

After the burial of my father, my uncle conspired and sold my father's properties to a Chinease Expatriate and live nothing for me. On a faithful morning, I opened my father's briefcase and found out the documents which he have deposited huge amount of money in one bank in Burkina Faso with my name as the next of kin. I traveled to Burkina Faso to withdraw the money so that I can start a better life and take care of myself. On my arrival, the Branch manager of the Bank whom I met in person told me that my father's instruction to the bank was the money be release to me only when I am married or present a trustee who will help me and invest the money overseas.

I have chosen to contact you after my prayers and I believe that you will not betray my trust. But rather take me as your own sister. Though you may wonder why I am so soon revealing myself to you without knowing you, well, I will say that my mind convinced me that you are the true person to help me. More so, I will like to disclose much to you if you can help me to relocate to your country because my uncle have threaten to assassinate me. The amount is $5.6 Million and I have confirmed from the bank in Burkina Faso. You will also help me to place the money in a more profitable business venture in your Country.

However, you will help by recommending a nice University in your country so that I can complete my studies. It is my intention to compensate you with 30% of the total money for your services and the balance shall be my capital in your establishment. As soon as I receive your interest in helping me, I will put things into action immediately. In the light of the above, I shall appreciate an urgent message indicating your ability and willingness to handle this transaction sincerely. Please do keep this only to your self. I beg you not to disclose it till I come over because I am affraid of my wicked uncle who has threatened to kill me.

Sincerely yours,
Miss Sofia Justin Yak

I'll take my blessings where I can get them, but they're still going to hell/non-denominational place that'll upset them a lot. An eternity trying to send messages with Google plus perhaps

Not necessarily a scam but a dumb telesales operator called me on the office phone yesterday. Upshot was was that there was a grant available for me to have cavity wall insulation.

That would be fine except that this 'amazing offer' was still valid after repeatedly saying:

- I left that property in 2007
- I am no longer a home owner
- I don't want your bloody cavity wall insulation

I closed the call by saying, "Don't you ever, EVER call me again or else I'll get very cross indeed!" Angy

Sigh. It's just one thing after another with this catergory of subhumans. I was spurred into signing up because I pressed the number to go through to the centre I didn't ask to be called from about my payment protection plan that I don't have, and when I said (actually politely!) 'can you remove me from your contact list' the bitch just hung up on me!

If that's real, it's utterly brilliant! He sounded slightly more irate than I usually am.
