Don't know if this will take off or not, but thought it might be quite nice to have a thread where we can post links to videos of various comedy sketches - both recent and from the distant past - of which we have fond memories.

Hopefully, over time, we might develop a collection into which one can delve and have a watch of some really good sketches. (Would prefer it if the sketches linked were previously broadcast material, rather than people offering up their own "amateur" efforts - there is the 'Showcase' section for that sort of thing, after all. However, good yet obscure sketches from little-known TV shows - or from the internet - are more than welcome.)

Yes. It's nice to see sketches from the Good Old Days, when the performers were pissed and (apparently) making the lines up as they went along - and the audience (also pissed) were mainly laughing simply because they'd made it through WW2 alive and with the majority of their limbs intact.

Great thread idea - and great to be reminded of Poppet on a Swing again. Still very funny indeed. I'll get my thinking cap on.

I'd forgotten all about that Poppet on a Swing sketch! I remember being at school the day after it came out and all the kids casually saying (into their sleeves of course) "I hope you die soon" every time a teacher asked something of them.

When I was 17 I rang someone up from school (whose phone number I had got by ill got gains) and proclaimed myself to be Punak the Destroyer to which they said "Who?". My friend Gavin and I laugh about it to this very day.
