I'm just watching the first episode of this.
Danny Baker, John Sessions & Hugh Laurie are the guests.
And when the siren went off Stephen Fry held up a little card rather than the words being flashed on the screen.

Yes I remember that. In the original pilot episode which is available on the Series A DVD there were no monitors at all, so they had hand-writtern cards. The on-screen captions appeared as of the second episode, and the cards were used up until the third series if I remember rightly.

Yes. I'm guessing that is because the panellists are now so aware of the forfeits that they don't want to ring them.

That klaxon sounds is one of the most annoying things on TV!
