Just listened to the first Libertines album which I only bought last week. They were really rather good. Reformed I hear - maybe only in one way though.

Now listening to Matapedia by Kate and Anna McGarrigle that a friend loaned me. That's the mother of your Rufus Wainwright zooo.

Babyshambles' Sequel to the Prequel is very good too, if you spot that going cheap. I don't really rate Carl's stuff outside of The Libertines.

Syd Barrett's "Barrett" album. Suitably chaotic.

R.I.P. Guy Clark.

My favourite version of his most famous song:

Agread.

Also Pete Doherty has recorded some catchy melodies since: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZHPTAV4w-s

I'll be interested to see what the reformed Spice Girls are like. Apart from Victoria they had good voices

Yes but apart from Geri she earned the most man milk - balance - and Geri had an unfair advantage because she had posed for erotic art (wank studies).
Quite honestly I liked the Spice Girls cos they weren't overly sexy. It was a refreshing change from the soft porn that had passed for vids ever since Madonna made the ground breaking discovery that sex sells. Well done, Miss! I never understood how Madge went from pop pap porn to feminist icon. Funny old world.

One Love-Bob Marley

No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)-Queen

Material Girl-Madonna

True Colors-Cyndi Lauper

I always thought that if C Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' was written by a guy it'd be considered the most sexist song ever.

I realised today that I've actually got it too.

Been listening to Santana IV which interestingly is their new one; a follow up to the Third Album in spite of the fact he's released a hundred million in between.

Anyway at first listening I wasn't that impressed; kind of expected something better. However on further listens it's growing on me.

Huge talent. This is the song that introduced him to me:

Another Texas legend has left us. When Willie shuffles off this mortal coil it'll be just too much.

Oh no.

But at least Sinead O'Connor has been found:

That tartan, pleated number Geri wears in Stop does it for me Lovey

They did some great songs and my favourite has to be Goodbye because of the soothing vibe. They started very poppy but went on to develop their own sound and were always down to earth and respectable. Spiceworld was also 90 minutes of mindless fun.

I liked Madonna until she turned her back on the girl next door image and started making videos like Justify My Love and Hanky Panky. Wearing pointy bras and flashing her flesh at every oportunity.
