What are you listening to now? Page 1,250

The first Runaways album.

Oooh, we're psychically in synch again, Gordon. Hasn't happened for a while. I was watching the movie about them over breakfast this morning.

I liked that film. I kept meaning to listen to the actual band.

I don't really know their music either, other than the big hits.

Only about half an hour into the movie so far, but enjoying it, and will watch the rest later - I recorded it from Film 4 last night. I just wanted to check out the opening this morning to see if I wanted to keep/delete it.

That's a classic. Wish I'd still kept my 12" copy - Lazz still has his, I seem to recall.

The sax, guitar, bass, and drums all sound really good on it too. Must have been produced by someone pretty good.

Did see them perform the song at the Rock Against Racism gig at Victoria Park, headlined by the Clash.

10cc - Rubber Bullets Live

Live TV studio version which ends with a guitar jam.

Next one's for wigwam willy.

I'll be interested to see what the reformed Spice Girls are like. Apart from Victoria they had good voices so it might be a nice surprise.

I played No Rain by Blind Melon on the way home from work today because it's perfect sunny weather music. Saw them live in 1993 at MK Bowl when they supported GNR and loved them ever since.

:O I was there too!
I was very small and very squashed at the front. (My first gig.)

No way I was right at the front too! :) We were up against the barrier and so close my friend caught Axl's cigarette holder when he lobbed it. We also got Slash and Izzy to say hello in our general direction :D Such an amazing day. When they came out on stage I was just speechless. Everyone around me were shouting to get their attention but I was in my own little world and couldn't utter a word.

I'll never forget within a few minutes of Blind Melon starting Shannon Hoon rested his foot on an autocue and sent it crashing a few metres to the ground breaking the glass screen and causing the roadies to rush around to get it replaced. I often wonder where he would be now because he had a unique voice and the band had a folksy, rock vibe I've not heard since.

When we got home that night we saw ourselves on the news which showed footage of the gig. A perfect end to a perfect day.

You remember more than me! I know I touched Shannon Hoon as he ran along the front. I spent most of the time staring spellbound at Axl. I seem to remember he wore a very fetching red and white outfit.

Oh, I just Googled it. I think he's wearing a Charles Manson t-shirt. Very tasteful!

You touched Shannon? That's so cool.

Spellbound sums it up because I wanted to be Axl and grew my hair and wore a bandana. To see my hero a few metres away was overwhelming.

I saw him in an interview on an American chat show a few years ago and he was so chilled out and easy going it was like a different person. I was convinced it was someone pretending to be Axl :D

Ha. I haven't seen him interviewed for yearssss. I guess he might do some since he's doing things with AC/DC now.

What made the MK Bowl gigs even more special was that Izzy played even though he had been replaced by Gilby in the band who had been doing the tour. Gilby had injured his hand so couldn't play during a short leg of the tour so Izzy stepped in. Gilby was cool and a worthy replacement but it was a massive bonus to see Izzy instead because it was 4 out of the 5 original line up. Izzy was at the Ritz man :D
