Going Up The Country-Canned Heat

I like Canned Heat in general but especially the songs sung by "Owl". Going Up the Country is really an uplifting song. This one's another favourite of mine:

Shake It And Break It

Siouxsie and the banshees - Dazzle

(I don't. Though there's a few things I keep meaning to get/look for eg a good Jonathan Richman comp.)

I've got one of those.

And talking about a wish list there's dozens on mine.

Another Good Song From The Band Canned Heat. On The Road Again-Canned Heat

And I've got dozens of whishlists. I write em spontaneously when I'm watching telly or lazying in my bed. I often lose or mislay them which is not necessarily a bad thing because this helps me saving my money instead of spending it on trying to complete my rock n roll collection.

A good Richman comp is on several of my lists but I still haven't managed to get one yet. :(

Siouxsie and the banshees - Dazzle

Awesome band. I once read the best things to come out of post-punk were S+B's The Scream, Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures and PIL's Metal Box. I nearly got to see Siouxie out here but the Pistols were playing in Turin. Like waiting for a bus innit.

What A Waste - Ian Dury & The Blockheads

Thanks for reminding me. Legend... Everyone needs legends. Except Oscar Pistorius, he needs leg ends. Sorry, going out on a limb there.

Some lesser known Phil Collins songs:

;)

Phil Collins only likes even numbers. He's against all odds.

I love The Who but I think the bit in Tommy where they say, 'Do you think it's all right... to leave the boy with Uncle Ernie?' is a tad far-fetched. Of course it's all right, what could possibly go wrong there?

Chappers, is it I Must Be King: The Best of Jonathan Richman, or Action Packed: The Best of Jonathan Richman, or something else?

I have this one which is good but it is early and doesn't include later gems:

I also have this CD, Jonathan Richman, which has one of my favourite songs:

.....and I like Nineteen in Naples and several more of his post Beserkley tracks.

I think I've got The Best Of Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers (1999) on Beserkeley. I've no idea where it is because I've got hundreds of CDs all over the place.

I've also got "Not So Much to Be Loved as to Love".

Rock and Roll with the Modern Lovers is one of my favourite albums. Many songs sounding like nursery rhymes with very sparse production including Egyptian Reggae.

He looks like Bruce in that photo. I can't tell if the percussion is a cowbell, or a tin of baked beans.

:D

I've seen him live twice - once at the V Festival where a youngish 2000s Essex crowd dressed for a night club didn't get him at all and once at the Jazz Cafe where he was virtually playing in the crowd on a small slightly raised platform. The reception was very, very positive. He is one of my favourite artists from the late 1970s.

Mark Eitzel is a different character but has similar abilities in an intimate setting. The crowd hangs on every word and it is a dialogue rather than mere performance. It's idiosyncrasy that enables it - very much a cult following:
