Stood next to him once, when was known then as Rod the Mod, and we were watching Long John Baldry giving it his all. Fabulous night in a small music venue in my home town. Cool

Terrific live clip.

Dig those hipsters, grooving at the side!

Amazing band.

Never saw the whole band live. Saw Kenny with The Who. Ronnie Lane with Slim Chance (supporting Bad Company). And Woody 3 times with the Stones (1976).

I saw them around 1974 I think at Sutton Granada - my local cinema. A great show. Such a fantastic live, good-time band. At their best I don't think anyone could touch them - except maybe Rory Gallagher.

Not sure why but I just grabbed the top CD which was the Best Country Album in the World (or something). Waiting for Wichita Lineman but Ruby Don't Take Your Love to Town was a really good record actually.

I'm listening to amateur radio operators via a Web-connected radio located in the Netherlands. There are hundreds of radios online that can be independently tuned by web users. A few hours ago I listed to a small amateur radio cubesat (an unguided satellite only 10 cm on a side) via a radio in New Jersey. These tiny wonder put out less than 1/4 of a Watt, but they are used by amateur radio operators with nothing more than a handheld radio and antenna.

If you want to play around with some radios: http://websdr.org/

Just bought a couple of vinyls in a Charity Shop and listened to the Far Corporation album featuring "Stairway to Heaven."

The other one was Good Deeds and Dirty Rags by Goodbye Mr Mackenzie featuring Shirley Manson.

What a great photo! And how I remember them all - fabulous shows they used to put on with lots of "adlibbing" where Long John would be in the audience with us, seeing how the band was shaping up, and then the mood would take him and he would join them on the small low stage.

Yes, the girls all fancied Long John Baldry and Rod didn't get a look in with his bouffant hairstyle as they all thought he was homosexual (we didn't have "gay" then); but how wrong we all were............on both counts.

I'd love to have seen them but I was much too young!

I really thought Julie Driscoll was gorgeous - with her Afro and then even more so when she cut it really short.

Their version of Wheels on Fire was fantastic and I bought that on 7" single on the Marmalade record label.

I've got one of her later vinyl albms credited to Julie Tippetts.

Never understood why more wasn't made of the version recorded by Ade Edmondson and Julie Driscoll for the Ab Fab theme.

I fully realise that I have atrocious musical taste, so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIj4e4BdpGc

Mel and Kim at their finest IMHO.

Yep! Great dancepop song. Loved it the 80s.
