Sense of humour bypass

...in which we highlight celebrities who don't like the piss taken out of them. Although......

I really don't understand Johnny Marr objecting to Harry Hill's planned Smiths medley on his forthcoming album.

Also he's had to change the titke about three times already.

Surely Harry is one of the most naturally funny people on British TV and he really is a fan. Can't these people see it just makes them look even more ridiculous?

I recall that fat Irish morning telly bloke threaten to sue someone or other for calling him fat or something not too long ago.

(my memory's not what it used to be)

I disagree. However much/little respect Matthew Hall will bring to the songs, they will be imperceptibly cheapened in the process. Johnny Marr has every right to protect his (superb) songs, if he feels inclined to do so. This isn't about having a sense of humour, it's about valuing one's legacy.

And if Matthew had that much respect, why didn't he seek permission before going off and recording the album? (An album which, of course, he will seek to make a healthy profit from.)

And of course Marr would too.

Did the HeeBeeGeeBees get permission? There are so many spoof records which have been recorded - I'm sure without permission.

Anyone hear Creep by the Frank Bennet Orchestra?

Johnny Marr has always been a tedious and pretentious arsehole and that's quite a feat in a band that includes Morrissey. He's the reason the Smiths split anyway, so he did more to harm the legacy of the music than anyone.

Well they do come from Manchester.

I believe Billy Bragg is a bit thin skinned when it comes to having the piss taken out of him.

And you can't beat Clive Anderson getting under Jeffrey Archer's skin.

The Bee Gees weren't too impressed with him either.

No-one would take the piss out of Bill and let's face it he really doesn't do the pouting muso shithead thing like Marr. And he's pretty nifty with a guitar as you'll know if you've seen him live.

Do what? Here's Billy Bragg on stage with Bill Bailey, performing Bailey's Bragg piss-take song Unisex Chipshop: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lnWNg3Pax8

Also, Billy sang Funky Gibbon on the Harry Hill Show.

Meg Ryan was a complete tit of the highest order on Parkinson.

Sam Fox loses it. "You know what I am, I'm an actress!" Oh dear.

I was thinking of that too. It's a very good pastiche as well. ;)
