The Sketch Show (with Lee Mack et al) Page 2

It was pretty basic and inoffensive. I think it was on ITV, wasn't it? That would make it about 90% of ITV's comedy output in the last decade...

I used to enjoy this, shame something hasn't come along to fill the void. I particularly enjoyed this sketch first time around IIRC...

Would it ever be possible to get hold of series 2 on DVD? I know there's a few clips on YouTube but I would love to see the whole lot. Surely the show must be stored somewhere.

Is it worth e-mailing ?

Sadly, it's never been released on DVD. There's an edited-down highlights edition of Series 1 on DVD available from Australia, but nothing complete, nor any hint of Series 2 from any country. :(

The show was a co-production between Avalon and Baby Cow for Carlton, now part of ITV plc - who might own the rights is anyone's guess. You could try firing off some e-mails and see where it gets you though - can't hurt!

Some great little moments in that show - toilet sketch as mentioned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEbY9KTwrKM

Wasn't there a series of gags with Jim Tavare at a bus-stop?

I remember it being pretty good. I think it was the first thing I saw Lee Mack on and still remember a story he did about his gran comforting him when he split up with his girlfriend.

I watched four episodes on YouTube just now. They did the man in armour goes through the airport metal detector first. So I guess that one of the writers must also have worked on Sorry, I've Got No Head.

I have fond memories of The Sketch Show as for me as a writer it was a near miss.

I had sent in some sketches to Baby Cow on spec around about this time, and out of the blue they contacted me and asked if I would do some more potentially for this, purely on an "if we use 'em you'll get paid" basis.

I did about five and was told two made it to the short-list but in the end weren't filmed. Close but no ceegar.

Hey ho!

Edit:

A mate just sent me a link to this clip from the show totally out of the blue. Bit of a nod here to the Two Ronnies but a great little sketch.

Hi

Does anyone know what series / episode the sketch with the policemen arriving at a guy's house and singing to the theme 'The Stripper' was in?

"Your wife is dead, she crashed the car
She went through the windscreen and she went quite far"

Can't find it anywhere and my kids don't believe it even exists!

All help appreciated.

Thanks

I submitted the first sketches I ever wrote for series 3 of this :-)

I can only remember this being shite.

Based on clips I've just watched on YouTube I couldn't have been much wronger.

Delighted to discover this exists, and after sampling some of it online I was dissapointed to find out it's not available on DVD.

Surely now Lee Mack is a big star in this country a DVD release is inevitable? I hate watching stuff on YouTube.

Thankfully living in NZ I picked up the DVD they released here - 3 hours from the first series. One of the best 5 quid I have ever spent

Sorry if this constitutes dragging back an old thread, but does anyone have a copy of series 2? I've watched the Austrailian DVD countless times and would love to se the other series (and yes I'm aware it's on YouTube but I just prefer sitting in front of the telly). Cheers!

I recall seeing an episode filmed. For the life of me I can't remember whether it was recorded in The South Bank Studios or Teddington?
