I think there may be a thread for this already somewhere... Certainly been mentioned. Nevertheless, hopefully its release is an indicator of the Channel 4 and/or Thames archives opening further.

About time. I did manage to pick it up on VHS a few years back, from the States but a DVD would be good - particularly as I don't currently have a working video and it's one of those annoying American box sets where the tapes just fall out of the bottom.

I'd like to have a look at this show again. :)

It wasn't quite as good as I remembered - it dated quite a bit and the humour was definitely old-fashioned farce but Brenda Blethyn and Simon Callow is a pretty awesome amount of acting prowess in one tiny sitcom.

Yeah I think my brother and I became fans when it was on, partly to take the piss and be ironic and partly because we did actually find it funny.

Vaguely remember this from when I was a kid - I think I liked it - just YouTubed it though and was very surprised to see how oddly the Tom Chance character spoke. Must've been a pain in the arse to write and for Simon Callow to act. The character had a really strange, stilted way of speaking.

In a scene where his wife asks him how he developed the skill for mending her leather skirt, he says:

"Out swimming. In 1965. Over-ambitious heron dropped 28 pound salmon pike on head. Temporary amnesia, came round 3 months later doing leatherwork apprenticeship in remand home."

He always misses out words like "I, was, a, had, my, an, your, the," etc

Bizarre.
