Stephen Fry Page 2

Let's keep the debate on topic shall we? The author of the article has stated that there is a serious Stephen Fry backlash, prompted by his less then entertaining Tweets.

Have the Great British television viewing public become fed up with Fry? Is he less popular than Cat Aids, Osama Bin Laden and Coming of Age combined?

Or is this just some desperate journo trotting out an opinion piece as 'news'?

Bring me facts!

He's not a particularly good novelist, documentary reporter, film director, or journalist.

Or actor, as evident in the film 'Wilde'.

But the thread title is "Stephen Fry", which I assume means we can broaden the discussion to talk about chubby bumboy's work in general.

And yes, of course it's a tired old piece of hack journalism.

It was a terrible portrayal of Brian Wilde. And the prison Porridge recreations were frankly embarrassing.

I thought that was quite popular, it's catching.

His portrayal of Kim Wilde was even more embarrassing. Yet somehow arousing.

I used to fancy a girl at school called Susan Wilde. Fry would make a terrible Susan Wilde.

The "bourgeois" comments that he made about the expenses row was unfortunate. I don't agree with him on that, but remember they were made after he had a microphone thrust under his nose outside an awards ceremony, not volunteered after careful consideration.

I have to say that I did agree with him on that!

he deserves a lifetime award just for Saturday Night Fry IMO.

Yes, in fact he was particularly good on a lot of radio back around then, like the early 'Whose Line'.

Bit over the top in Blackadder Goes Forth, wasn't he?

Actually, that's my favourite of all his parts.

Personally I think he was better in Cell Mates.
