Has anyone heard the Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast? It's basically genre parodies done in the style of old time radio shows (recorded in LA I think). They seem to have a pretty high calibre of guest stars (Nathan Fillion, Ed Helms, lots of actors from Community) but it's frequently hilarious and worth listening. My favourite serial within the series is a sci fi western called Sparks Nevada, Marshall on Mars.
Ricky Gervais, definitely.

Sometimes the NFL/Hockey chat gets a little too much for me, not knowing much about either, but Bill's ability to hold your attention for an hour or over is impressive.
Makes the start of the week a little easier.

Indeed, his points of reference can be a little bewildering but as you say he can still hold your attention through sheer humour. Does anyone else pull off a hour + comedy podcast by themselves?
Another podcast or just regular show I'd recommend is the Opie & Anthony Podcast. They host a radio show that features comedians heavily. Jim Norton is a co host and the like of Bill Burr, Colin Quinn, Joe Rogan, Patrice O'Neil, Louis Ck, Jim Jeffries and others turn up regularly. They put out highlights every Wednesday but everything is on YouTube.

I like Bill Burr a lot, but I tried listening to one of these before Christmas and my mind kept wandering.

Big fan of this, but don't listen to it as much as I did a few years ago. I've discovered so many comedians through that show.

Bill can have his off weeks where he'll meander but on the whole he delivers plenty of laughs when he's on form which is 80% of the time.
I too have discovered lots of comedians through O&A. It's a gold mine, especially for acerbic fiends 
QI now has a podcast called No Such Thing as a Fish. It features the elves/researchers talking about the best facts they discovered during the week.

How did you know this was their first try?
This podcast is written mostly by folk who contribute to these forums. Please give it a go! Perfect for short commutes.
I seem to listen to Podcast more regularly than TV shows these days.
My subscriptions (that are comedy based) are:
1. Smodcast: One of the grand daddies of Podcasts. Essentially Kevin Smith and his producing pal Scott Mosier get stoned and make up random stories based on articles they've read. I think it's hilarious but a lot of people find it annoying. Overall it's one of my favourites. http://smodcast.com/channels/smodcast/
2. Hollywood Babble On: Another Kevin Smith Podcast that's set in front of a live audiences with his good buddy Ralph Garman. This show is much more structured with segments and popular requests from listeners. This is one of the few Podcasts my wife will listen too (she doesn't really think Smith is funny) as she finds Garman's imitations like Arnold singing Children's songs very funny.
They were recently in the UK so check out those episodes.
3. The Nerdist: With Chris Hardwick, Jonah Ray and Matt Mira (all comedians in the alternative LA scene) interview actors celebrities but primarily comedians and comedy writers. Their all host episodes are also usually funny (there are a few recent ones that really sucked as they all seemed upset with each other over something personal).
4. Star Talk Radio: The brilliant Neil deGrasse Tyson talks mostly space but he is also smart enough to know he need help in the funny department do he brings on a slew of great comics to help him.
5. Comedy Bang Bang: Tons of my favourite comics just trying to make each other laugh. Hosted by Scott Aukerman. It's also a very weird but funny show now on IFC.
Those are my 5 must listens. I also listen very regularly:
- Edumacation (science and comedy with again Mr. Smith)
- You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes
- Welcome to Night Vale : not exactly comedy but I find it funny.
- 'The Champs' with Neil Brennan (the other half of The Dave Chappell Show)
Hi Comedy fans,
If you enjoy both dry and off the cuff humour that is not scripted but is still funny and entertaining then I would recommend both the SetrocJC channel on YouTube and the SetrocJC Pod casts.
I have been doing both now for well over a year and have no plans on stopping so please check them out and let me know what you think. I have tried to create content that is original and not main stream.
What's the worst that can happen you never know you might find them entertaining and different.
