Favourite Father Ted episode Page 4

I like the one which ends with a monologue in a high-pitched voice by the boring priest, who says that he's put an extension on the extension and now the house goes round in a circle. It also features information about lagging - 'and this applies not only to lagging but other forms of insulation as well'. Superb delivery.

That's the one entitled Entertaining Father Stone, I seem to remember? Ted prays that something will happen to him and he gets struck by lightning on a golf course, which makes Ted recant - hilarious. Laughing out loud

Nope, that's Competition Time and the boring priest's name is Father Austin Purcell. He's also famous for saying: "they built an extension on an extension and now the house is in a circle."

Oh :| Two boring priests - I'll have to dig me box set out.

Boring in different ways I guess? Father Stone's oppressive presence sucked any atmosphere out of the house and Father Purcell's constant tedious chatter incited Jack to violence (not that he needed much excuse for a fight!)

Father Purcell was in one of the two broadcast last night - "Think Fast, Father Ted":

"A piece of advice my father gave to me. Now this refers not only to lagging, but all forms of insulation. He said "dont ever". No, wait, it was "always". No er, "never, never" - oh wait now, I've forgotten. Never mind."

Yes, that's it - the one with the leaking roof, the raffle car and The Dancing Priest. Competition Time features Henry Sellers and Father Barty.

"How long was the car journey?"
(Straight away) "Four hours!"

I like the one about the film they have to boycott.

I love 'em all but I will give a first mention here to Rock A Hula Ted featuring Claire Grogan sending up Sinead O'Connor's right on worthiness. Then there's the one with Dougal giving up rollerblading for lent.

The "I am not a racist" one was on last night.

Excellent.

The last time I commented on Claire Grogan, she was in Universal Love School and I was at the ICA.

Unbeknown to me and not a little awkwardly, she was standing immediately behind me.

The pitfalls of a band socialising with its audience before and after a gig. :D

Not an easy one for me. I have to say the one where they go on holiday and encounter a another priest. One reason it's my favourite is because the amazing Graham Norton is in it. The caravan was a piece of genius because it didn't seem like them. The hide and seek bit at the end was absolutely hilarious because Ted made it so easy. The overall of the episode was truly spectacular.

That is an excellent episode, esp this exchange:

"'Clit Power' - what does that mean? I knew a Father Clint Power once, perhaps she's having a go at him?"

That episode Good Luck Father Ted with the Craggy Island fair - The Whirly-go-round, Freak Pointing, Duck Startling, The Chair of Death, Goading Fierce Man, The Pond Of Terror, The Spinning Cat, Tarot Reading, The Ladder, and the Tunnel Of Goats - reminds me of how fairs looked when I was 7 and seeing the balloons and clowns etc in such places through the remarkable lens of late 1960s psychedelia. A pity things became real.

Does anyone know what the theme tune to Father Ted is called?

They are all brilliant. I've just been watching 2 episodes on More4, the one with the boring priest who comes into the bathroom when Ted's in the bath and has a crap to Ted's disgust :D and the very last one where Ted is offered a job in America. Speed 3 was a really funny episode.
