No one's mentioned the Boosh!

I did amongst my honourable mentions. Boosh has some great moments, though I can understand people not liking it. Vince Noir is only funny in smaller doses but Howard's always great. Noels Fielding's other characters are good too (Old Greg, the Spirit of Jazz, The Hitcher). Though my favorite character overall is the Crack Fox from series 3.

Without doubt my single favourite moment of all the Boosh episodes is The Legend of Milky Joe:

"The man's an arse" Laughing out loud

In no particular order (except for Blackadder which is a clear No. 1):

Blackadder
Fawlty Towers
Only Fools & Horses
Father Ted
Red Dwarf
The Office
The League Of Gentlemen
Peep Show
Drop The Dead Donkey
Spaced

Drop The Dead Donkey

Oh I forgot that. :(

The League Of Gentlemen

*Quietly seethes*

10. No Heroics

Wow, No Heroics? Really? I liked that show, but it seems a touch early to be calling it a top ten great!

1. Father Ted
2. Not Going Out
3. The IT Crowd
4. Peep Show
5. The Worst Week Of My Life
6. Outnumbered
7. The Office
8. Gavin And Stacey

I think you need this thread: https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/11773/ ;)

Touche. :P

I haven't seen many older British shows, but my list would go something like this:

1) Green Wing
2) Spaced
3) League of Gentlemen
4) I'm Alan Partridge
5) Ideal
6) Nathan Barley
7) Outnumbered
8) Saxondale
9) Phoenix Nights
10) The Royle Family

I need a few more slots for The Inbetweeners, Early Doors, The Office, etc. :(

1. The Royle Family
2. Steptoe and Son
3. Human Remains
4. I'm Alan Partridge
5. Till Death Us Do Part/In Sickness And In Health
6. One Foot In The Grave
7. Peep Show
8. Fawlty Towers
9. The Office
10. Only Fools And Horses

3.Human Remains

It's fantastic, but it ain't a sitcom.

These would be mine, but the order they're in is just plain random.

1. Steptoe and Son
2. The Worst Week of My Life
3. Green Wing (though there will always be that 'is it technically a sitcom? question. Com-dram, whatever you want to call it.)
4. Clare in the Community
5. KMKYWAP/I'm Alan Partridge
6. Peep Show (still going, still just as funny)
7. Dad's Army
8. Father Ted
9. Not Going Out
10. 15 Storeys High

Reading through the thread I was surprised to see Absolutely Fabulous only getting one mention.

Then I tried to do my own list & had to miss it off myself.

1. Only Fools & Horses
2. Fawlty Towers
3. Blackadder
4. Porridge
5. Father Ted
6. Dad's Army
7. I'm Alan Partridge
8. Red Dwarf
9. Steptoe & Son
10. The Office

Just missing the cut were: Black Books, Peep Show, The Likely Lads, Phoenix Nights, Rising Damp, Spaced, Hancock's Half Hour & Ab Fab.

So there you have it, my top 18
It wasn't that hard.

Whistling nnocently

It's an impossible question to answer really but I think I should make honourable mentions for sheer ridiculousness of Father Ted, the observational qualities of Yes Minister, The Office and The Royle Family and the characters of Steptoe and Son.

I love Blackadder but in hindsight I think it did rely on metaphor a bit too much for laughs...which I still did heartily. It would still make my Top 10.

1. Dad's Army
2. Fawlty Towers
3. Rising Damp
4. Bits of Blackadder
5. The Young Ones
6. Nightingales
7. Hot Metal
8. Father Ted
9. Spaced
10. The Thick Of It

Bit of an old timer's list, but I've hardly seen a British sitcom in the last 10 years

Now there's a controversial list!
