I certainly am Dellas. It would have been a farce if he hadn't won. As well as being the best living British athlete and the greatest British road cyclist of all time he is also astonishingly humble and magnanimous - a fantastically worthy winner. They should make him his own trophy.

The title is "Sports Personality". They don't have to be great sports(wo)men.

Personality doesn't come into it - David Beckham, Johnny Wilkinson, Paula Radcliffe - very proficient but personality?
These days it's who's got the biggest voting block organised when the show is on as demonstrated by the Ryan Giggs farce a couple of years back.
If it had to be purely on personality, rather than who has the best chemist, Darren Clarke should have won it by a country mile.
Just wait until the day that the anglers can get a nomination. With the introduction of the phone voting they will do what they have been threatening for years and get that trophy for one of their own.

I can't believe the way the Beeb tries so pathetically hard to hype it up. They run loads of ads for it like it's the Oscars crossed with the Nobel Prize.

Usually venomously hate hit and runs, but got to feel sorry for someone panicking about being a murderer when someone's bloody laid down in the road

Perhaps the poor sod was just pissed (it is that time of year).

(Or maybe he wanted a job as a sleeping policeman.)

Plenty of that here -- minus the superfluous "h" of course.

Bah. Well, if I'm ever rich me and my carhartt coat know where to come!

Most of the homes in my neighborhood are in the £130,000 range. Elsewhere you can find places half that price.
