We're Nic and Joe and we've written, directed, performed, funded, edited, created the music for and recorded a new radio sitcom which will premier on 22nd June this year.
We say 'funded' it's not actually cost anything at all, bar blood, sweat and tears and the help of a few good friends.
It's 6 half hour episodes released monthly, each with a running storyline of two guys writing a television sitcom. Each episode is told from the past by Merlin; who is trying his best to entertain a savvy 7 year old girl.
He tells the story, in the past, of two men, in the present, who are trying their best to write a comedy after managing to wrangle a television deal from a mentally deranged TV executive called Valerie.
She gives them their deadline, and they panic through 6 episodes trying to write something they've already said they've written.
The only problem is they always seem to be spending their time getting embroiled in a series of hair-brained schemes and casual violence.
Their wacky outings always seem to take up so much of their time, that in turn their writing takes a back burner.
Each episode is named after a film, with Episode 1 being called 'Death Becomes Her', as one of the main characters decides to fake his own death in order to get out of paying a gas bill he doesn't want to pay. Suddenly his life starts getting deleted, his house up for sale, bank accounts closed.
How will Nic and Joe get out of this, quite frankly, stupid situation and why is God a main character?
Each episode is filled with nostalgic reference to 80's and 90's music, films and people, is quite un PC but has got a lot of good feedback from the few people who have heard parts of the show. We were recently on BBC Radio Sheffield discussing it and we want to gather a community of people who'll listen and give honest critical feedback, both good and bad.
