Best Two Ronnies Sketch Page 5

I remember a sketch with the Ronnies playing two beefeaters singing a song where the first bit of a line was the innuendo of the last line...

I know Not The Nine O'Clock News did a parody, but I can't seem to find the original anywhere...does anyone know where it can be found, or which series it was from?

This 'un?

The Lordship Ringers is a good one (not sure if it is the actual title of the sketch), the bell ringers on a Christmas special. Love it when the police cart goes by and they imitate the Doppler Effect with the bells.

Too many great sketches to choose a single one, but I can point you to the one I think is the worst.

No love for Namedroppers?

I'd rank it up there with some of their best wordplay. Just don't watch the updated version from 'The One Ronnie' with Richard Wilson...

Loved the swearbox sketch, and the best song had to be the Chas and Dave parody.

I've always liked the Mastermind sketch.

The other day I was listening to The Burkiss Way and they had a sketch based on exactly the same idea!

So who ripped off who...

The Burkiss Way was written by Andrew Marshall and David Renwick, the latter of whom wrote the Mastermind sketch in The Two Ronnies. Without checking the exact years, I suspect that the Burkiss version came first.

Ah ok

Well the Burkiss Way version was vastly inferior

Since they were written by the same person, that's hardly an insult is it?

It wasn't meant to be!

Just mentioning that the Two Ronnies version was much funnier

It was wittier and better written

Comparing each shows though I think the Burkiss Way hasn't dated much, and Two Ronnies has more. Burkiss seemed to take more risks.

On the subject of the Two Ronnies Mastermind sketch Ronnie C's character was originally called something else, but Ronnie B changed it to Smithers, much to David Renwick's annoyance.

I Love The 4 Candles One

"Cancel all previous orders, just give me a sack of coke, two large rocks, two pink boobs, an enormous lemon and a large bare lady on the house!"

Liked them a lot, a few spring to mind.

The Eye Test.

Hieroglyphics sketch.

Mispronunciation sketch.

All good stuff.
