QI - Series H Page 8

I would have thought that the Mail approved of being offensive to foreigners.

Amazing. A few harmless and respectfully-made lines about a dual atom bomb survivor and the Japanese demand an apology. Maybe they might to reconsider their lack of apology for the death and brutal treatment of thousands of POWs during WW2 before they get up upon their high horse? Errr

Surely out of all the incidents on QI this one would be more offensive to the Japanese, mainly due to the accents.

It might just be me, but I've been enjoying this series. I guess though I've always considered QI as an amusing and informative show, more than a laugh-out-loud series. Or maybe I'm just generous with my criticisms.

This.

I thought this week's episode was very good. Excellent panel and some quite interesting facts - the odd old gag cropped up like the 'smoking a pipe adds gravitas' but all-round good.

And now the all-too-predictable puddle of rectal slurry from The Guardian...

Of course, no-one intended to cause any offence, but to placate the howls of protest, Fry and the QI team should try to build some bridges - preferrably in a 120-degree heat, without access to food, water or basic sanitation. That always used to make the Japanese smile. :)

I genuinely don't understand what the fuss is about. The show was talking about a man who had (supposedly) survived not one, but two atomic bomb blasts. Some associated quips were made - but not at anyone's expense, as far as I could tell (or remember now). So ... I really don't understand what the objection is.

I know this is the wrong series, but some previously unshown editions of QI XL from Series G are now on Dave. You can catch them up on Dave Ja Vu.

Cheers Ian
I'm taping them now

Oh, do you mean when they've shown the normal QI, but for whatever reason never showed the XL versions?

I seem to remember that happening and being really annoyed, as I usually skip the normal editions and only watch the XLs.

You don't watch both editions? Call yourself a fan? Pah! So fickle... Unimpressed
