Rob Newman - History of The World Backwards Page 4

I got bored and turned off last night.

I'd love to love it, but for me it doesn't work in basic terms - not "is it funny?" (because the odd bit is), but "is it funny enough?"

For me, no.

And I don't think this is anything to do with Newman, just that this high-concept idea doesn't work for any longer than 5 or 10 minutes (max) as a TV show. I've seen him live in rip-roaring form doing similar material in a different way; but on TV, it hasn't persuaded me.

Agreed. I find that if you think about the conceit too much, it starts to fall to pieces. So a series based on a shaky premise is asking for trouble.

He's fit though, innit.
