Identify this comedy documentary

Hi - Sorry for the rather vague post...

I saw something on TV a couple of months ago and am trying to discover what it was called. It was an English bloke that had gone to America to make 3 documentaries, but was in reality taking the mick - the three situations I recall were:

1) He spent a day being a bed salesman, after learning the trade from the real guy, who was basically wired on a diet of nothing but caffeine. I recall he had to stand on the sidewalk with a sign, tring to entice the punters in...

2) He played the manager (in drag I think?) of a telesales operation, where he was super-harsh to the poor employees

3) He filmed a documentary following someone around where he actually did the voiceover LIVE (and the music, on a portable cassette player) - it meant that there would always be some mistake and so he made the guy do the same cut over and over again - about 75 times! - it was hilarious

I'd be chuffed if anyone knew what I was on about!!

Thanks.

La La Land?

That's it! Nice one, much appreciated :-)

No, La La land was Marc Wooton playing a psychic, a bad actor and a bloodthirsty director going to LA, being a bed salesman or a manager in drag didn't fit into it.

Tim, it is La La Land. There was an episode where the actor character, Gary Garner, tried being a bed salesman, and in another ep., the manager in drag was his Shirley Ghostman character, running a phone line.

It must have been episode 4 that I saw

Sorry. I think Shirley's a man though, if an effeminate one.
