Spaced

Was just one of those sitcoms that completely past me by - always wanted to watch and now finally have. So, somewhat belatedly, let me declare a big thumb up - thought it was fabulous. Favourite moment was Brian talking to Colin (the Dog) in a high voice. Favourite scene - the clubbing one. Ah the memories! Is series 2 as good?

Yes series two is brilliant as well. Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz are also great.

Best Comedy Ever. Fact! Best scenes...

Fake sex noises
Brian's entrance in the 1st episode. "Do you rent downstairs?"

Oh, the last episode has got to make you fill with tears and joy. But the reason i like it so much is not just the performance but Edgar Wright's direction. I want to reach the heights he has.

Series 2 makes you glad that it didn't go on. Yes it is good, great even (Spaced is in my Top 5 easily) but there are too many self-conscious film references within it. For example, the opening episde is a matrix spoof that doesn't quite work (for me, Zappa, for me :D)

But get it. It is very good and has a nice emotional payoff at series close which doesn't tie up every loose-end (which is as it should be)

The paintballing episode is fantastic, the end closing shot made me cry with laughter. Isn't this the series with Walliams playing Vulva? Another brilliant episode.

in that matrix spoof episode isnt there a great pulp fiction spoof and manhatten spoof so good. i do love edgar wrights direction yet i wonder if he'll stop using the whip pans on his next project.

Episode 1 of Series 2 doesn't too much for me either, except the fight between Daisy and the agents, the manhattan intro and the apperance of a mute John Simm.

Oh, and there's that line "I'm going point the pink pistol at the porcelain firing range." lol

The last scene of Series 1 Episode 7 is lovely to, even with the talking about porn dialogue.

Am I the only one who (now) loves Spaced but thought Shaun Of The Dead was dire. Or more that it pales into insignificance when set against, for instance the Evil Dead series.

Well, out of the 2 movies they've done I rate Hot Fuzz higher than SOTD.

I liked Shaun of the Dead but i havent seen the evil dead series (or hot fuzz yet) so i cant say whether it "pales into insignificance." I bought the spaced box set completely on a whim without having ever seen it and im glad i did. I love the episode in series 2 where Tim loses his job over the phantom menace...

"I don't care, if you've saved up all your 50p's, take your pocket money, AND GET OUT!.... What a prick."

I gotta say SOTD is better then hot fuzz in my opinion. Evil Dead 3 army of darkness is a great film as well .

After (probably) years of hearing about how amazing Spaced was I watched the Night out/slow motion episode on C4 when they showed it recently. I found it stunned by it's own cleverness, and just re-watching the youtube clip there to confirm that I'm not being unfair - skin crawlingly arch. It's wisearse, comedy for people who drink in Camden and think having a piercing in their aorta makes them edgy.

Tim no doubt writes for Sugar Ape, nowadays.

It's 'Friends' for people who wear loose trousers and read comics.

Graphic novels lol.

can you just explain to me what that means. I know (or i think) the acronym stands for Laugh Out Loud but do you mean graphic novels are all laugh out loud !? I ask as someone has e-mailed me with a similar turn of phrase and i've no idea what she's on about.
