Al Murray's Multiple Personality Disorder

Just thought I'd start a thread on this sketch-show the night of its debut. I'm in two minds whether to watch it or not.

I'll definitely be watching. I'd have loved to go to a recording, but they were all bad dates for me. Should be good though, from what (admittedly little) I've seen.

Heard a bit of the P.C. PCs. Sounds very good. Somebody is apparently commiting suicide: "Where's PC Smith, he's ideal for suicide cases?" "He's on a diversity course, learning Latin. We must cater for everybody."

Yeah, I saw that one too. Much better on screen than written down!

Just watched this and I must say, I really enjoyed it. Proper old school comedy and a few laugh out loud moments. Though some of the humour had that 'deja vous' (i.e. totally ripped off) feel from other sketch based comedy shows, the talented cast really pulled them off.

The only character that didn't work for me was the gay nazi - Tom Cruise does it much better in Valkyrie (boom! boom!).

Twas good to see Jenny Eclair back on the box. And it's good to use the word 'twas' in a sentence to express this sentiment.

I hope they can keep this standard of humour up throughout the series, as I'm led to believe that all the best bits are used in the first episode of most sketch based comedy shows.

Um, two thumbs up.

I really enjoyed that. Doubt that anyone else will have, but I really enjoyed that. The camp Nazi was surprisingly good, given its premise!

Wow, and indeed, double wow!

Laughed at one sketch, the phone one.

The young bloke in it was the best thing about it imo.

Didn't see the show, but I want to add my support to bring back "twas"... and Tiswas. The phantom flan flinger... where is he now?

Is the Al Murray show a sketch show then... not a sitcom(ish), with him playing different characters? That was the impression I was under and the reason I wasn't too bothered about missing it.

I watched about fifteen minutes, don't think I laughed out loud once. Don't really find Al Murray that funny at all.

It is a sketch show.

I know, you and I actually agree about a new show. :O

I really enjoyed the quality of writing in this. The sketches had a beginning, middle and end and usually finished on a good punchline. I don't know why, but the phone shop manager taking a picture whilst hiding under the desk really tickled me.

After watching The Wrong Door on Beeb 3 and Cowards on Beeb 4 and some of the ITV2 'efforts', I'd pretty much given up on a new sketch show being funny.

Anyways, got to get back to my new hobby - dubbing porno music over those new Stroke adverts on the telly.

Reminded me of Harry Enfield. Great to see this kind of thing back on the telly again.

I was even more shocked to see a member of BSG starring in one of the adverts. Who? My lips are sealed. Whistling nnocently

I liked the show, although when the gay Nazi character appeared, I kept thinking of Herr Lipp from The League of Gentlemen.

It just made me think of every other sketch show I've ever seen.
