My last sketch for a while as I'm taking a break from writing. I like this crazy idea but I think I copt out in the end, oh well...

Karl sits facing a giant super computer called N.O.B 2000.

Welcome to the future.

KARL
Thanks, what year is this?

N.O.B 2000
1989.

KARL
Oh, so this is actually the past.

N.O.B 2000
No, this is the future.

KARL
Well to me it's the past.

N.O.B 2000
No-

KARL
And actually, to you it's the present.

N.O.B 2000
But look at all my flashing lights and listen to my roboty voice.

KARL
It all looks very 80s too me.

N.O.B 2000
Yes, the future.

KARL
No, it's the past, I'm telling ya.

Don't you mean present?

KARL
Well you certainly have the sarcasm of an 80s tv show A.I computer.

80s TV audience can be heard whooping

KARL
Why did you bring me here?

N.O.B 2000
Because Luke I have a very special-

KARL
Sorry, my name is not Luke.

N.O.B 2000
It's not?

KARL
No. My name is Karl and I am from the future.

Aw cool!

KARL
Yeah. We have Sky Digital and everything.

N.O.B 2000
Wow.

KARL
Hang on, I don't think we have time travel in the future? I can never remember it being invented in the past either.

Well to tell you the truth. This isn't really 1989.

KARL
What?!

N.O.B 2000
Yeah and I'm not a robot.

A geeky looking man steps out from behind the computer.

KARL
Oh I don't believe it!

N.O.B 2000
Yes, it's true.

KARL
Am I on some hidden camera show?

N.O.B 2000
No, no. I just kidnapped you and played out my fantasy.

Karl starts to laugh.

N.O.B 2000
After I raped you repeatedly.

Surely you should have the few seconds of awkward silence just before the end of the sketch!

Thanks Mr. A. I'm still up for writing with WTF, but at the min I'm just not enjoying it like I used to.

It's not bad, and a goodish punch.

But I found it hard to follow, and a few too many ideas.

I couldn't follow this one. What is the conversation between Karl and N.O.B is supposed to establish – it is the past, it isn't the past, the computer looks out of date?

And why does Karl laugh when he gets told he's been kidnapped? I don't see why he'd do that.

The punchline is a bit out of a cop out too. It's one of those all too easy punchlines such as "I'm gay" or "No, it was your mum".

I think you could have some mileage in the idea, but you need to go back to the very start. Maybe have a man waking up to find he's been kidnapped by an out of date ‘supercomputer'.

How can there be mileage in the idea if you don't know what it is? Lol. Thanks for the feedback, might do something better with this idea another time though.

I liked the idea but it didn't make me laugh as such. And also, ajp29 is back!
