The best piece of casting in a sitcom? Page 2

Richard Briers in Ever Decreasing Circles, a great performance in a much overlooked and neglected classic.

Ironically, it's one of the few things we have to be thankful to Ben Elton for.

Difficult to imagine a 'Manuel' other than our Andrew...

Al Wiedersehen, Pet..

It couldn't be anymore perfect, as in my opinion each role was important and everyone was useful within the whole series. (even barry) Moxey was another who fit in well but the best was Leonard, Dennis and Bomber. (I shouldn't miss Neville out either)

Brings back flashes of fond memories.

It's not British but Arrested Development is just perfect in so many ways and one of them in particular is the casting.

Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder.

Who would have ever guessed that the squirmy toad from the first series could transform into the jaded world-weary schemer we saw in the next three years ?

And while we're at it, Hugh Laurie as the Prince Regent and Stephen Fry as Gen.Melchett were pretty perfect too.

Agreed.

:)

Yea Arrested Development went above in its casting.
As for Atkinson in the first series of Blackadder, I've said it once and I'll say it again I thought it was brilliant.

Tom Baker as Captain Rum in Blackadder. Completely hilarious.

Tom Baker was on TV yesterday as Ra-Ra-Rasputin, lover of the Russian queen.

leonard rossiter as rigsby in rising damp.

Going back a bit further, Sid James as Hancock's combined nemesis and sidekick.

rainn wilson as dwight in the office.

cool. someone else from manchester. Hello.

erm, everyone in The Thick Of It.

David jason in only fools and horses. He was the third choice to play del boy, but you couldnt picture anyone else playing that role.

hey jdubya, always cool to see more mancs on the internet.

Not comedy, but Peter Falk in Columbo. Apparently Bing Crosby was first choice.
