BCG sitcom

It struck me that the posters would be ideal sitcom characters. The old hands, the optimists, the cynics, the know-alls, the crusty old buggers, the aggressive feuders, the obsessives, the innocent young ingenue...you know who you are!

I forgot the half mad.

Moi? I'm not one of any of them Angelic

I'm at least four.

I'm all of them except optimistic and young.

They do tend to go together.

Bit of a sausage fest. Even Porridge had the odd woman.

A very odd woman.

Dad's Army had quite a few women characters. Mrs Pike, Godfrey's two sisters, Mrs Fox, Mrs Yeatman, Carmen Silvera as Marcia Gray, Pike's "girlfriend", Barbara Windsor and the Wendy Richard characters, Avril Angers as the telephone operator in two episodes and several others with smaller parts.

And of course Mrs Mainwaring was always hovering in the background...

I don't think a large woman like that could hover, shirley.

Instead of the home guard, we could have DIY HGV drivers and plumbers full of Dunkirk spirit (bootlegged booze). Imagine the mishaps.

Maybe a charismatic retired Rebel could set up the Brexit resistance and lament about the good old days, when wine was cheap and handy men were exotic and plentiful ? Bootlegging cheap petroleum from France, smuggling in straight banana's from Holland. It's a good thing I've never attempted to write a sit com.

Sounds promising! Start writing, Firkin.

Beaky you are such a positive light on here. :)

Choose your character:
Loveable rogue
Nagging harridan
Smooth charmer
Gormless thickie
Comedy racial stereotype
Dim but gorgeous twentysomething
Pompous old fool
Loud and camp
Bad tempered teen daughter
Grumpy racist/homophobe
Annoying neighbour
Deaf sleeping grandparent
Vicar turning up at least opportune moment
RSC actor with woefully unconvincing cockney/northern accent imaginable
Jobbing actor you've seen in all sitcoms but just can't place
