All Over The Town (1949)

What would be called these days a Romcom, but I didn't see much com, and didn't know the leading male and female actors. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it and didn't think I would, it being about running a small coastal town newspaper - reminded me a tad of the Bernard Miles (see previous) film "Chance of a Lifetime".

There were people to recognise, in the form of Ronald Adam (playing grumpy owner), a young (and small!) Bryan Forbes, James Hayter playing this time unusually a nasty character, Erik Chitty (teacher in Please Sir), Stanley Baker ( recognised him this time) and Patrick Macnee, who I didn't. These last three were uncredited.

Oh, and look, there's Eleanor Summerfield, again!

Worth a look.

That's a very interesting photo. I've never seen Cyril Cusack so young. He became head of an impressive acting dynasty.

Quite, but I wouldn't have known him from Adam in this film. :D

Looks like the same plot you can read about in Private Eye, happening now.
