I can't even begin to express how much this album brings joy to my heart and helps in my recovery.

As one writer says - and the critics have rightly gone wild about it - it has come for everyone at the right time.

Nina Simone said to me yesterday through the clouds, and she was one who lived it, being an angel on the earth and now directly tuned into my breakfast channel, once every 20 year versions of "best to keep 'em waiting" God generally do. :)

Ah well we can't all be right :)

I could be wrong...

".....I'm a man of contradictions, I'm a man of many moods
I contain multitudes "
See Horse's post above. :)

Key West is my pick at the moment.

The stone roses- this is the one (live at madison square garden)

This is a very good cover with the bonus of not having to look at Robert Plant in tight jeans.

John, isn't it absolutely outstanding ? Yes it is, Thank you so much, I so love Bobby D because he is a true me and not a moi. Now where was I? What a weird mid summer. Total and utter psychological collapse. The big break upwards and wow there is strength in this head. Mind you, the body is such that I am about to drop dead from the entire strain of it. And then we have among the following four curiosities, the best track Weller has released in decades. Bloody hell. Just when there seemed to be no purpose so what the heck - then suddenly there it s. Ta still for bearing with me, Let us have some joy together in that strange old sixties way when all we knew was a peony bush and gold and violet butterflies.

And you always thought the first one was the Carpenters, tish:.

Leon Russell - A Song For You:

Paul Weller - Village, 2020

(Wow, the best since Wild Wood, 93?, thanks Paul from a fellow suburbanite oik, you have always been with us - the key to this, readers, is to forget it is Weller, switch off from that, listen to the studio version, and it really works on that level. Ironically for all of the epitome of urban life that he has been, the bucolic doesn't half suit him. I think in the video he is coming across a bit like late era Richie Havens via British fag, garb and Union Jack which is really not at all bad thing ):

Janet Kay - Silly Games:

And for my fellow broadcaster, Doton, ('course you tune in to this, you can't fool me), keep on keepin' on, mate:

Carroll Thompson - Simply in Love:

I've been a fan for nearly 60 years. Our relationship got a tad strained when he really got religion but it was only momentary.
Neil Young seems to be popular again too :)

Well, there are some very good songs on Slow Train Coming and Saved but I understand that line. I'm not Mr Religion in any sense but I may have a slight leaning which means I could accommodate it more. I do understand what you say. Neil's record this year is great. I'm totally with you there. But, you know, these sorts of people - they are so substantial they are my gods to me. If you will forgive me, I'd like to do the Karen version because I love her voice - I really, really, rate it, you could see in her troubled scowl her tragic difficulties, and at least for those reasons, and there are more, the middle of the road bracket which they played to is way too narrow. Instinctively I ride against categories. Get over the pigeon holing and it has huge soul. She did. She was one of the greats. The A double plus greats. She touches my soul.

Thank you so much John for your friendship. It is kind and rewarding and I value it:

The Carpenters - A Song For You

Can I do two things here that I hope that might be original and mildly interesting.

1. Key West - in the reference to old radio stations, there is surely a nod of approval to Van Morrison : I'm seeing it as a cross-reference to In the Days Before Rock n Roll off Enlightenment which if true is just brilliant in Bob thankingVan

2. Karen Carpenter - The female Nick Drake? I had never thought of it before. I have never seen it suggested. Tonight it seems so obvious to me and I think we can begin to re-contextualise her up from here. Talking of the immense Drake, old Joe Boyd sent me his latest today which was good of him. I will give you some info shortly on what he had to say. :)

Like a bit of Richie Havens? Course you do...now I sleep:

Grace of the Sun - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2P5dICJkW8

(The album was as late as 2004 and it is utterly fantastic)

You are very complex person,Horse.Life is much easier when you a bit dim like me:)

I have now edited it to simplify it.

Hope this is helpful. :)

I'm having a Richie Havens interlude now.
Not only do I like his style but he looked like a good mate of mine, now deceased.

Richie singing Bob

Gary Numan. - I die you die

I just watched my old Spice Girls DVD. Still stands up well.

Still getting that pain in the wrist?

To convince my parents I'm gay, I bust my ass.
Listening to McCartney's Flaming Pie. In a career that's had more ups and downs than Madonna's undies, it's a definite up.
I actually have a soft spot for Wings. They're always criticised, and the Partridge barb didn't help, but they gave epic gigs ( check out Wings Across America), they notched up some strong 45s including a Bond classic and a boner fide record breaker (... Greatest), and Band with the Runs makes most fans' top five solo Beatle albums. There are some real gems in there - you just have to sit through a lot of crud to get there.
