Spitting Image

Has anybody been watching the repeats of Spitting Image on Paramount 2 on Tuesday nights as I've just noticed it's not on this week.

I was hoping they would show every series from series 1 to the very last series but I guess that was a bit naive of me to think that.

Anyway what series number did they stop at last week as I'm not sure?

Think it was coming up to series 2.
Which is the next DVD release I believe.

This show scares me, weird looking puppets that inhabit my nightmares!!

Well, it's been on for 11 weeks, double billed, so 22 episodes. How many of those were repeats I don't know, but at very least they've shown the entire first series (I'm not sure of the length of that offhand though).

I'd be surprised if they don't move onto the rest, in due course.

It would appear our Politics have become so ridiculous, Spitting Imagine is returning to our screens. See here:

Welcome back!

I think they need to re-visit the Trump puppet - it's miles off.
The rest look spot on though.

Having read the publicity articles, my impression (see what I did there?) is that it's going to be a very American show with fewer British characters than we're accustomed to among the puppets.

Going after Trump and Putin isn't exactly groundbreaking satire so I hope we're going to see a bit of stuff of the quality we became used to in the show's last incarnation.

If they wanted to, they could really put Meghan to the sword but I have a horrible feeling they're going to be rather nice to her - certainly when compared with the treatment they dished out to the British targets of their earlier lampoonery.

Yes a welcome return, they've brought it on themselves, it coming back. On the Meghan Markle one, we'll find out if she's got a sense of humour or not, because they're going to go to town on her new agery guff. It's the royals who usually lack a sense of humour with caricatures of them, I'm betting on Prince Harry to get cross the most. His puppet btw is superb. Putin looks great, reminds of the job they did on Tebbit, Can't wait to see Corbyn as scruffy old tramp.

Good news and I hope the horses make an appearance. The horse puppets were one of the funniest characters.

Spitting Image is officially coming back. Two new series will be made for BritBox.

The trailer: https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/spitting_image/videos/20957/official-trailer/

I think the problem is that, well for me anyway, these people say things every day that are so beyond satire even Chris Morris and Armando Iannucci wouldn't have written things so daft, I just can't see what you could do in this to make them look more ridiculous than they already make themselves look in real life.

Well, the trailer's pretty poor.
Not sure this is going to be up too much.

What made Spitting Image in the 80s was the script and if that magic is missing it's not Spitting Image it's just something they are using as a vehicle to make people watch it. If Chris Barrie doesn't even make a small contribution then it's a missed opportunity.
