I am now listening to Radio Caroline as they have gone on to the Ross Revenge radio ship in conjunction with Manx Radio to broadcast from there this weekend. If I win the lottery, I intend to set up a pirate radio station on an abandoned sea fort in the Medway. Next I will combine it with a small affordable hotel for wedding receptions. There will be boat tours for the guests to view modern seals living on the Eastern seaboard and a wide range of historical oil refinery infrastructure.

If successful, I will then turn the entire Brighton Marina area predominantly into a Caribbean theme park with a radio station playing tropicalia. No one will be able to walk there or indeed talk there in the normal way. They will have to sign a document on the way in agreeing not to talk. The experience will involve Angelic hopping through a network of a thousand promenade turntables - in effect circles of spinning concrete alongside the sea - while listening to the tunes played by the DJs and (B) simultaneously doing the limbo under variously low environmentally biodegradable beams in the sun.

Finally, my third venture, Cheering London Radio, will seek to enable Londoners to think of their city in an entirely different way. All the presenters will sound Canadian. There will be a constant diet of upbeat songs from the 20th Century. There won't be any news, weather or travel reports or any descriptions of London as it is. Instead, they will refer to the seafront at Fleet Street and the conditions there, discuss the lambing they saw on the moorlands when coming in on the Old Kent Road and have guests describing how they are going to scale the range of mountains from Camden to Hackney. I have already finalised the schedule. The maps will also have been done once I've drawn in the snowscapes, deserts and forests.

What is important is that nobody thinks it is coming from something solid like a building and a studio so I'm working on various station taglines. "From the yacht of mystery in a space beyond the highest rooftops" "Brought to you by just one solitary bird flying way above the crowds". That sort of thing. Oh yes. And all of the jingles will sound like the Beach Boys.

Interesting point and I wonder if this is an age-related senility thing. I regularly do quick crosswords and find out that if I rewrite the down clues horizontally I can work out the answers quickly.

Yes,I do that too.I hope I'm not sea lion yet :)

42.3 c here at the moment, that's 108 F ....it's a bit hot...

Don't they famously have one leg longer than the other?

Don't they famously have one leg longer than the other?

That seems to be the case in the picture above, comes from (or causes) them to run anti-clockwise around the hills & mountains of Scotland.

Scotland

I want to know what neeps are.

My decorated Christmas tree is still in place in the living room so it has just about got through January.

Drooping at its lower end ever so slightly but not enough for people to notice.

The next key date to aim for is 8 February when it will have been in place for exactly two months.

As opposed to many Scots on Burns Night, who are completely legless.

I want to know what neeps are.

It is short for turnips. Which are not the turnips that the English know (& love?). That which is called a turnip in Scotland is what the English know as a swede. So, in short, neeps are swedes (usually mashed).

And Tatties are Potatoes! (I think!)

And Tatties are Potatoes! (I think!)

Correct. We'll make a Scotsman of you yet.

I think tatties comes from the discoverer of the potato, Edwin Tayto.

That's interesting. Don't the Irish have a brand (?) Of crisps called Tayto?

Chip's new passport has arrived. It's the same colour as the old one! I thought in brave new Brexit Britain ALL passports were blue? Not that I mind, maroon's much better.

You haven't been keeping up with the passport news have you.

The passport office aims to waste not want not. The will be using up all their old stock of maroon passports intermixed with the new blue ones. Applicants are not given a choice of whether they get issued a maroon one or a (dark) blue one.
