That just suggests the process was expensive back then (20 years ago). Doesn't necessarily mean that they were well paid! Although they probably were.

I'm ashamed to say I've seen them all except Up.

At least for the opening bit which is genuinely very moving.

I assume that Roman Polanski was unable to be considered? Because I can't see "The Pianist" on that list.

I think it just didn't make the list. I agree it's great though.

There's a lot of great films that I'd have happily put on the list: Cabin in the Woods, It Follows, John Wick, Three Billboards, BlackkkKlansman, The Lobster, etc, but that's the nature of these kind of lists.
